Tips for Summer Activities

Summer is right around the corner, and we have some activities to make it a fun, healthy time for you. Here are 4 ways to enjoy the sunshine season. Get out in the sun, but be safe when you do it. Exposure to the sun can boost your Vitamin D levels and help with depression, heart attacks and strokes.  Just be sure to use sunscreen, which will defend against skin cancer. Take a deep dive into water aerobics. This low-impact exercise is a great way to strengthen muscles, build endurance and burn calories. Public pools offer many classes tailed for seniors, plus it’s a fun way to cool off. Grow your green thumb. This is a great option for those with lower mobility or a need for a less strenuous activity.  Gardening is accessible and produces plenty of healthy food. Volunteer your time. Senior Corps is an organization that helps coordinate people ages 55+ who want to be involved in the community.
