Telehealth: The Future of Medical Accessibility

Priorities have shifted, new programs have been adopted, and many companies are investing in new technologies. One example of this is the push for telehealth options. It played a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic and many experts expect it will continue as we escape the clutches of the virus.

Read our blog post below to learn more about how telehealth is changing the entire medical landscape.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is a way for patients to engage with their doctor without having to meet in person. There are several options people can use to enjoy this service:

  • Talk to your doctor over the phone or video chat.
  • Send and receive messages from your doctor using secure messaging, email, and file exchange.
  • Use remote monitoring so your doctor can check on you at home.

People are Enthusiastic About Telehealth Services

In a survey of 2,000 Americans, 85% of respondents said they would likely select telehealth for their next primary care appointment.

According to the survey, it’s primarily due to the convenience and reduced travel time. It adds a new level of flexibility for patients who wish to stay healthy while saving time and money on transportation costs.

With continued enthusiasm for the service, we believe it’s safe to say telehealth will continue to grow. Demand for the service will drive more practices to offer the service for many years to come. However, policy reform relating to reimbursement may need to be required.
